How To Tee Up Your Commercial Practice

Many students in both pre-licensing and post licensing express interests in commercial real estate. Most often their questions are:

1. How do I get started in commercial real estate?
2. Do I need a special license or training to be a commercial real estate agent?
3. What kind of options exist for working in commercial real estate?
4. What are the important things that must be evaluated in assisting a client with the sale or purchase of a commercial property?
5. What are the different client needs and expectations?
6. What are some of the hot topics and trends in commercial real estate?

This course was written to address those concerns. This course provides an overview of working in commercial real estate. It will enable a licensee to have a strong understanding and basis for deciding whether or not to practice in the commercial arena

This is a 4-hour course and is eligible for 4 hours of elective credit.

What is continuing education (CE)?
Continuing Education is a recurring annual requirement for all licensees wishing to maintain active license status eligibility and must be completed each license period by June 10th beginning with the first full annual license period after initial licensure. Each licensee is required to take the appropriate 4-hour Update course (BICUP for BIC-eligible and BIC designated and GENUP for provisional brokers and brokers) and a 4-hour elective of your choice.
What is the attendance policy for CE?
Licensees must attend 90% of a CE course and comply with student participation standards in order to receive credit for the course. Early departures from CE courses delivered in-person or via synchronous distance learning are prohibited by Rule 58A .1705. Students who depart courses early will not receive course credit.
When do I have to take CE?
Starting prior to the second renewal of your real estate license continuing education must be completed each annual license period between July 1 and June 10. It is very important to note that schools are not permitted to offer courses for CE credit between June 11 and June 30 of each year.
What if I am unable to complete the course after I enroll?
A student may withdraw from a course by giving written notice to the Education Provider prior to the start of the course. In such event, the student will have the following options: students who withdraw prior to the start of the course shall have the option to

1. Move their registration to any future course of the same type within 6 months.

2. Receive a full credit equal to the cost of their enrollment to be used toward other courses.

3. Request a full refund (please note refunds may be reduced by the cost of materials already received by the student).
