Frequently Asked Questions

On-Demand and self-paced Courses

  • Who should choose a live real estate class instead of self-paced?

A live real estate class may be a better fit if you learn best with structure, interaction and a regular schedule.

You may prefer a live class if you:- Like being able to ask questions in real time.
    – Learn well through discussion and instructor explanations.
    – Want a set schedule to help keep you accountable.
    – Prefer learning alongside other students.
    – Find it difficult to stay motivated in a fully self-paced course.
    – Want more guidance as you work through difficult topics.

At Ignite School of Real Estate, live classes are available in online and in-person formats. Both give students direct access to an instructor while covering the required North Carolina real estate course content.

  • Who is a good candidate for self-paced real estate school?

Self-paced real estate school can be a good fit for students who are organized, self-motivated and comfortable learning independently.

It may work especially well if you:
    – Have a changing work or family schedule.
    – Prefer to study at your own pace.
    – Like being able to pause, review and repeat material.
    – Are comfortable managing deadlines without a set class schedule.
    – Want the flexibility to study during mornings, evenings or weekends.

At Ignite School of Real Estate, self-paced students still have access to structured course content, practice activities and instructor support. If you know you need frequent reminders, live discussion or a set schedule to stay on track, a live online or in-person class may be a better choice.

  • Is online real estate school harder than an instructor-led class?

Not necessarily. The difficulty usually depends more on your learning style, study habits and need for structure than on the course format itself.

A self-paced online course can be a great fit if you are comfortable working independently, managing your own schedule and staying motivated. An instructor-led class may be easier for students who prefer a set schedule, real-time explanations, class discussion and regular accountability.

At Ignite School of Real Estate, both formats cover the required North Carolina real estate content. The best choice is the one that matches how you learn and how much structure you need to stay on track.

  • Does online real estate school include instructor support?

Yes. At Ignite School of Real Estate, online students still have access to instructor support.

Students in live online classes can ask questions, participate in discussions and interact with the instructor in real time. Students in self-paced, on-demand courses can also receive instructor support when they need help understanding the material or working through difficult topics.

Ignite’s goal is to give students the flexibility of online learning without making them feel like they are learning completely on their own.

  • Can I switch between devices while taking my online course?

Yes. For Ignite School of Real Estate’s self-paced, on-demand courses, you may access your coursework using a compatible laptop, smartphone or tablet, so you can switch devices when needed. Your course participation and progress are tracked through Ignite’s learning management system using your individual login, lesson progression and completion checkpoints.

For the best experience, Ignite recommends using a laptop or desktop computer for most coursework, especially for activities or assessments that are easier to complete on a larger screen.

Keep in mind that live online classes have different technology requirements. Students attending Ignite’s synchronous online courses must use a desktop or laptop computer with a working camera and microphone.

  • Can I take my North Carolina real estate course on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Ignite School of Real Estate’s online course materials can be accessed on many phones and tablets, which can be convenient when you are reviewing lessons or studying on the go.

However, Ignite School recommends using a laptop or desktop computer as your primary device for Prelicensing and Postlicensing courses. Some activities, virtual class sessions and proctored exams may work best or require a computer with a reliable internet connection, camera and audio capability.

For the best learning experience, use your phone or tablet for convenient access and review, but plan to complete most of your coursework on a laptop or desktop computer.

  • How long do I have to complete an on-demand real estate course?

For Ignite’s self-paced North Carolina Broker Prelicensing Course, you have 180 days from the date of registration to complete the entire course, including all required activities, quizzes, assessments and the end-of-course exam.

Because the course is self-paced, you can decide when and how often you study within that 180-day period. Ignite recommends creating a regular study schedule so you keep moving forward and do not find yourself rushing near the deadline.

Completion periods for other on-demand courses may vary, so be sure to review the course details and Ignite’s Policies & Procedures before enrolling.

  • How does an online self-paced NC real estate course work?

An online self-paced North Carolina real estate course lets you complete the required coursework on your own schedule instead of attending classes at set times.

Students log in to the course platform and work through lessons that may include readings, videos, interactive activities, practice questions and quizzes. You can usually stop and return later, which makes self-paced courses a good option for students balancing work, family or other responsibilities.

For the 75-hour North Carolina Broker Prelicensing Course, you must still complete all required course content and successfully pass the required end-of-course exam.

Ignite School of Real Estate’s self-paced courses are designed to give students flexibility while still providing structure, practice activities and instructor support to help them stay on track and prepare for the North Carolina real estate licensing exam.

  • Are self-paced real estate courses approved in North Carolina?

Yes. North Carolina allows certain real estate courses to be completed in a self-paced distance-learning format through a certified Education Provider.

Self-paced options are available for Prelicensing, Postlicensing and some Continuing Education electives. For Postlicensing, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission specifically recognizes self-paced distance courses as an approved delivery method.

For Continuing Education, GENUP and BICUP must be completed live, either in person or through synchronous online instruction, but elective courses may be available in a self-paced online format.

Ignite School of Real Estate offers approved self-paced online Prelicensing and Postlicensing courses, giving students more flexibility to complete their required education around work, family and other commitments.

  • Can I complete North Carolina real estate school entirely online?

Yes. You can complete the 75-hour North Carolina Broker Prelicensing Course entirely online through an Education Provider approved to offer the course in an online format.

Depending on the provider, online prelicensing may be offered as a live online course with scheduled class meetings or as a self-paced online course that allows you to work through the material on your own schedule. Current NCREC rules recognize virtual and distance-learning formats for real estate education.

Ignite School of Real Estate offers both live online and self-paced prelicensing options, so students can complete their required education without attending a physical classroom.

The North Carolina real estate licensing exam is separate from your school course and is currently administered at a Pearson testing center
